Week 1: Exploring Faces – Sketching & Expression (4th & 5th Grade) 🖊️😊🎨

This week, we’re focusing on the art of drawing faces. Students will study the proportions of the eyes, nose, mouth, and other facial features, then explore how subtle changes can express different emotions.

They’ll:
✨ Practice breaking the face into basic shapes for accuracy
✨ Study facial movement when showing emotions like joy, surprise, or sadness
✨ Complete a detailed self-portrait sketch that will be the foundation for next week’s painting

Skills covered: observation, proportion, expressive drawing, and shading basics.
