Art Class at the Art Room: Week 2: Mood Portraits – Painting with Emotion (4th & 5th Grade) 🎨🎭✨

This week builds on our work from Week 1. Using their self-portrait sketches, students will bring their artwork to life with acrylic paints that reflect the emotion of their piece.

They’ll:
✨ Mix colors to create a mood (cool blues for calm, fiery reds for energy, soft pastels for joy)
✨ Use brush techniques for layering and blending
✨ Explore how color choices can change the feeling of an artwork

Skills covered: acrylic painting techniques, color theory, expressive art.

By the end of Week 2, students will have a finished mood portrait that combines proportion, expression, and color in a powerful way.
